Router and network security¶
The router is the entry point for everything connected to the home network. A router with default credentials, remote administration enabled, or all devices sharing the same segment is a significantly easier target than one that has been configured with basic security in mind.
The controls here are not difficult, but they are not done by default. Most routers ship with settings optimised for ease of setup rather than security.
The router controls what gets in and what can talk to what.
