Defence blues

Badger blues

Notes on defensive security, taken along the way and left where they landed. Occasionally updated. Some are field notes. Some are in a similar field, in costume.

The field

What the work looks like when “everything is on fire” and someone is still paying attention.

Fictional premises

illustration on aged parchment, looking out over the city of Ankh-Morpork from high atop a defensive tower. In the mid-ground, the city and the vast Circle Sea are rendered in detailed, hand-drawn cartography. In the immediate foreground, the stone ramparts of the tower (the 'MoD/Establishment') are visible. Integrated into the foreground view, the different functions are symbolized: a heavy brass cryptographic device for golem computing, a stack of freshly audited ledgers, and a massive, telescope-like magical looking-glass used for long-range observation over the sea.

A concrete geopolitical ecosystem (MoD, Secret Service, White Hat Org, Beastitarian Spy NGO, and NATO parallel), dressed in other clothes so they can be looked at squarely: a setting for strategic threat modelling, and a ramp from lore into real-world fire.
