Keep mobile software updated¶

Attackers exploit known vulnerabilities. A phone running an OS version from six months ago is running against documented, publicly available exploit information.

How to¶

• Android: Settings → System → System Update (check monthly)

• iPhone: Settings → General → Software Update (enable automatic updates)

• Apps: enable auto-updates in Google Play or the App Store

If a phone no longer receives OS updates from the manufacturer, the attack surface expands with each passing month. Most banking and financial apps will eventually drop support for unsupported OS versions. Replacement is worth planning for before it becomes urgent.
